Have you heard? James Landing Grille features fresh and local fish every week. Open seasonally, James Landing Grille presents a selection of fresh, locally-sourced cuisine and sustainable seafood. But what does it all mean?
Supporting a healthy ocean and knowing what seafood is okay to eat is an important part of what we do. We understand the decline in wild fish populations due to overfishing, lack of effective management and human consumption habits. When our guests ask ‘Do you offer sustainable seafood options?’ not only do we want to answer, “yes,” but we want to share how.
Our Chef sources most of the seafood caught exclusively in Virginia, to provide you with a unique taste of the Chesapeake Bay while making ocean-friendly choices.
Virginia’s number one fishing industry is scallops, and on most weeks James Landing Grille has those very scallops fresh off the boat served directly to your plate. You will not have a fresher scallop than that anywhere else, but at Williamsburg’s only riverfront dining experience. Sustainably managed and responsibly harvested under U.S. regulations, savoring on this shellfish delicacy is a smart seafood consumer choice.
If scallops aren’t your thing, we recommend the VA Fried Fish Sandwich, made from fresh hyper local wild caught Blue Catfish. When you order one of these sandwiches, you are helping restore the balance in the Chesapeake Bay.
Next time you make it out to James Landing Grille remember the eco-friendly choices you’re making. Opting in for the weekly fish special always gives back to the environment.
